Lincoln Corner


Lincoln corner was established at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir in the year 2007 with the collaboration of the Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad and the UAJK after signing of an official Memorandum of understanding between the two organizations. The center was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir on April 26, 2007.
It was established as an information resource center with the view to provide the people of AJK an access to the required information about the global international matters in general and about United States in particular. It was aimed at promoting mutual understanding and fostering better relations between the citizens of the two countries.

The center is fast becoming a vibrant venue that provides its users quality access to information regarding research, education and other areas of interest. The information center offers Global understanding Virtual Cultural Classes held twice a week by establishing link via internet with other International Universities around the globe. Such as: (The University of East California USA, The University of Lima, Pew and The University of Malaysia). The said programs enable our students to interact with the student of other international universities and share their views and perspective about their respective religions and cultures. The information center has become more dynamic and multipurpose by arranging and conducting community based programs involving both the public and private sector organizations along with the faculty and students of the university.

The Center arranges 4 or more activities on monthly basis. Thus it allows the students to make use of the available resources by accessing information through the available resources. Its major users comprise the faculty members, M.Phil. I PhD scholars researchers and students. Hence the Lincoln corner Muzaffarabad is a wonderful resource for both students and faculty at the University and making an effort to raise and enhance the overall quality of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

United States forms a Cultural Bridge with Pakistan through the Lincoln Corner at University of AJK

U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Counselor Angela Aggeler and University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Vice Chancellor Prof. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmed Gardezi signed a three-year agreement to continue their partnership with the Lincoln Corner Muzaffarabad, today in Islamabad. Lincoln Corners are multipurpose resource centers which provide information about U.S. culture and educational opportunities for study in the United States. Under the agreement, the United States will continue providing books, magazines, Internet service, multimedia equipment and online academic databases to Lincoln Corner Muzaffarabad, located at the University of AJK.Aggeler said, “We are thrilled to continue our long-term partnership with the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.

The Lincoln Corner in Muzaffarabad is a wonderful resource for both Students and faculty at the University. “In addition to being public libraries, Lincoln Corners serve as venues for public speakers and educational events. Since its creation in 2005, the Lincoln Corners program in Pakistan has hosted hundreds of speakers for professional, academic and civic groups on topics of interest to both the United States and Pakistan. There are 16 Lincoln Corners in Pakistan.
