Introduction

Department of Statistics was established in 2005. It is one of the major Departments of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, which has adopted the challenges of new era. The aim of Statistics is to empower effective decision making. The unique contribution of this field is its ability to incorporate multiple level of uncertainty in the framing of wise decisions.
Over last few years, its development reaches to a new level. Today Statistical modeling and machine learning have reached a level of impact that no other field can afford to ignore. As per need of era, Department of Statistics is the source of producing bright statisticians along with subject-specific knowledge; the program is designed to produce students with skills demanded in markets including: advanced qualitative and quantitative skills, analytical and problem-solving skills, and computing skills. Students will also be truly prepared with research skills, communication skills through statistical projects. Department of Statistics has honor of producing many eminent statisticians. The graduates of this department hold positions of eminence in Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, Banks, Education, and Industries as well as in administration in the country.

Mission

To deliver a high-quality statistics program that could enable the students either at the workplace or for the higher education to enhance, enrich and upgrade the statistical literacy; to provide support in the domain of research and professional development of faculty and students simultaneously.
