Introduction

The UAJ&K while realizing the importance of media education and rapid revolutions in journalism and communication industry over the past decade, established JMCD in year 2019 to equip students with updated knowledge of the industry, understanding of the multifaceted media operations and other dynamics of the communication field.

Our Four years BS Program in Media Studies helps prepare students to develop critical thinking, build understanding in applying ethical principles in mass media messages, news items, photography, videography and multimedia reporting. Our HEC approved comprehensive study scheme helps students to prepare themselves in fast-paced world where technological developments and latest trends in the journalism and communication demands extra vigilance to survive in the industry.

Initially the department is offering Degree Program of BS in Communication Studies but gradually, the degree program of M.Phil and PhD will also be offered in this newly established department.

Our qualified and experienced faculty is tirelessly engaged in equipping students with strong theoretical background and technical skills to help them to become a valuable addition in the industry and to promote quality journalism in the state.
