The King Abdullah Campus of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has been established with the generous financial assistance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It stands as a permanent symbol of the enduring friendship and cooperation between the people of Saudi Arabia and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Strategically located 21 kilometers from Muzaffarabad on the Muzaffarabad–Islamabad Highway, the campus has been developed as a modern center of higher learning. The facilities include purpose-built academic blocks, an administration block, a central library, a mosque, a state-of-the-art auditorium, and separate residential hostels for male and female students as well as for faculty members. The campus is further supported by all essential amenities required for quality education and research.
The establishment of this campus was initiated in response to the destruction caused by the devastating earthquake of 2005, which underscored the need for improved educational infrastructure in the region. Construction commenced thereafter, and the campus was formally inaugurated for academic activities in 2020. To facilitate accessibility, the University operates dedicated transport services for students and staff between Muzaffarabad city and the campus, in addition to on-campus residential provisions.
At present, the King Abdullah Campus accommodates nearly thirteen academic departments from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Designed with a forward-looking vision, the campus reflects the University’s commitment to academic excellence, intellectual development, and societal advancement, while simultaneously representing a valued example of international partnership and resilience in the aftermath of adversity.
It gives me immense pleasure to extend my greetings and welcome you to the King Abdullah Campus of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This campus represents a landmark achievement in the history of higher education in our region, made possible through the generous financial assistance of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It is not only a center for academic pursuits but also a profound symbol of the enduring bond of friendship and cooperation between the people of Saudi Arabia and the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
The vision for this campus was born out of adversity, in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake of 2005. At a time when our educational infrastructure was severely affected, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia extended its hand of support, enabling us to transform a tragedy into an opportunity for progress. The King Abdullah Campus thus embodies resilience, renewal, and a collective commitment to build a brighter future through education.
At present, the King Abdullah Campus accommodates nearly thirteen academic departments from the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. With a forward-looking vision, we aim to expand these academic offerings, enhance research opportunities, and foster innovation so that this campus becomes a leading hub of knowledge not only within Azad Jammu and Kashmir but also across the region.
As Director, it is my firm commitment to ensure that this campus remains a place where academic excellence, intellectual growth, and character development are nurtured in equal measure. Our students are the custodians of the future, and it is our responsibility to provide them with the tools, guidance, and environment necessary to enable them to contribute meaningfully to society.
