The Bachelor of Science (BS) in Zoology program is designed in accordance with the provision of the HEC Undergraduate Education Policy Version 1.1 to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the animal kingdom. The program integrates knowledge across animal diversity, physiology, behavior, ecology, and evolutionary biology, equipping students with the skills necessary for research, conservation, and further academic pursuits in Zoology. This subject has a significant role in human resources development, food security, wildlife conservation, zoological parks, sustainable development and ultimately in alleviation of poverty.
Our vision is to become a distinguished program in animal sciences producing responsible and productive zoologists equipped with ethical rectitude and devotion for contributing to the socio-economic development of society.
The mission of the BS program in Zoology is to produce self-motivated and credible local human resources equipped by the strong pedagogical competence in various fields of zoological sciences along with skills and capabilities to apply the gained knowledge in diversified areas of human development.
- Equip the students with essential theoretical and practical background knowledge along with the required skills relating to the zoological sciences.
- Enable students to compete for different graduate assessment tests for higher education in reputed higher educational institutions and job opportunities countrywide and abroad.
- Develop the coordination, communication, and presentation (oral, writing, and graphical) skills among the students.
- Enable students with scientific knowledge and techniques to analyze and solve cultural, social, economic, political, scientific, and environmental issues.
- Prepare the students to work in different challenging environments effectively and efficiently through teamwork.
- Enable students to be good human beings and efficient, self-motivated professionals who can analyze problems and devise potential solutions.
The program aims to develop researchers to serve in universities, institutes for ecology, veterinary healthcare, molecular biology, environmental agencies, conservation & forest management, climate change, scientific publishing, public education (zoos, museums, scientific societies, nature reserves etc.), biomedical sciences, pathological laboratories, diagnosing genetic disorders, wildlife conservation and management, public and private sectors, and forensic departments.
