UAJK Organized Grand Seminar To Mark International Mother Language Day

 

The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) organized a grand seminar to mark International Mother Language Day, highlighting the significance of linguistic diversity and cultural heritage.

Acting President and Chancellor Chaudhry Latif Akbar, while addressing the audience in his native Gojri language, emphasized the urgent need to revive and preserve regional languages. He reiterated the commitment to integrating local languages into the educational system.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi announced the launch of language courses, including Kashmiri, under the Institute of Languages, fulfilling a long-standing academic and cultural need.

The seminar featured insightful speeches by Meritorious Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Chairman TEVTA Choudhry Muhammad Fareed, Secretary Education (Schools) Inayat Ali Qazi, DPI Colleges Prof. Dr. Abdul Rehman, linguist Dr. Sagheer, Hindko poet Habib ur Rehman Habib, renowned Pahari poet Syed Masroor Shah, Radio Pakistan’s Senior Producer Choudhry Khalid Mehmood, and Director Institute of Languages Dr. Zafeer Kayani, among others.

Adding a cultural touch to the event, students from Postgraduate College (Women), Muzaffarabad, presented beautiful performances in various mother languages, celebrating the richness of linguistic heritage.

As a gesture of appreciation, the Vice Chancellor of UAJK presented souvenirs to the Chief Guest and distinguished speakers at the International Mother Language Day seminar. The university acknowledges the invaluable contributions of experts and scholars who are working tirelessly to preserve and promote regional languages. Their insights and commitment to linguistic diversity continue to inspire students and educators alike
