UAJK Leads Efforts to Establish Resource and Communication Centers across all public sector universities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) is delighted to announce the establishment of Kashmir Resource and Communication Centers across all public sector universities in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. This significant initiative has been launched under the directives of President Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor of Public Sector Universities, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary, and was formally announced by the Chairman of the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan, Prof. Dr Mukhtar Ahmed. The initiative is aimed at advancing empirical research, preserving Kashmir’s cultural heritage, and amplifying the Kashmir cause on international platforms.
The announcement was made during a consultative meeting led by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Vice Chancellor of UAJK, which brought together Vice Chancellors from all public sector universities in AJK. Addressing the meeting virtually, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed emphasized the need for collaborative efforts between universities, international organizations, and research institutions to strengthen this initiative. He highlighted that these centers will evolve into think tanks, preserving the history of Kashmir, documenting human rights violations through data-driven research, and building global linkages to bring international attention to the Kashmir cause.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to the Chairman HEC for his guidance and support in shaping this landmark initiative. He stressed the importance of utilizing digital tools and communication channels to build a compelling narrative that effectively promotes the Kashmir cause. The meeting was attended by Vice Chancellors Prof. Dr. Abdul Hameed Pirzada from Women University Bagh, Prof. Dr. Rahmat Ali from University of Kotli, Brig. (R) Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed from Mirpur University of Science and Technology and University of Bhimber, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Sohail from UAJK, and Sardar Zafar Iqbal, Additional Registrar of UAJK.
During the meeting, Prof. Dr. Ayesha Sohail presented a comprehensive draft outlining the proposed centers’ name, vision, mission, objectives, administrative structure, and research mechanisms. Her efforts, developed in consultation with an established committee, were highly appreciated by all participants. After thorough deliberations, the Vice Chancellors finalized the name of the initiative as the Center for Kashmir Resource and Communication, approving its vision, mission, and objectives in alignment with the directives of President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhary.
The Vice Chancellors pledged their unwavering commitment to establishing these centers in their respective universities, recognizing their potential as vital platforms for research, advocacy, and global engagement. This initiative marks a significant stride toward strengthening academic and research contributions to the Kashmir cause, paving the way for meaningful international discourse and action.
