Solidarity Rally – United for Kashmir’s Freedom
On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir (UAJK) organized a powerful solidarity rally in support of the oppressed people of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Led by Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, UAJK’s management, faculty, staff, and students came together to form a human chain at Chella Campus, symbolizing their unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause.
The rally, which began at the Admin Block and marched to the Education Hall, was a resounding demonstration of unity and solidarity. UAJK reaffirmed that Kashmir is not just a territorial dispute but a humanitarian crisis demanding global justice.
The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) observed Kashmir Solidarity Day with a seminar titled “Kashmir’s Freedom: Our Role and Commitment,” bringing together distinguished speakers to discuss the Kashmir issue and strategize for its future.
Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, in his address, emphasized, “We must reassess our Kashmir policies and take more decisive action on global platforms. Kashmir’s freedom struggle needs reinvigoration and a strategic approach to counter India’s aggression.” He also announced UAJK’s initiative to establish Kashmir Resource Centers in all public-sector universities, with UAJK leading the way.
Renowned scholar and journalist Syed Arif Bahar traced the origins of Kashmir’s resistance movement, stating, “The Kashmir struggle was born out of an assault on Kashmiri dignity and has evolved into a force that India has failed to suppress despite all its military, political, and diplomatic efforts.” He further criticized India’s attempts to misrepresent the Kashmir freedom movement, saying, “India’s false narrative linking Kashmir’s struggle with terrorism needs to be debunked through intellectual engagement and proactive diplomacy.”
Dr. Nazakat Hussain from the Institute of Kashmir Studies reaffirmed Pakistan’s unyielding support, saying, “Pakistan’s diplomatic, political, and moral backing for Kashmiris remains steadfast. We must continue this commitment and amplify our efforts.”
Dr. Shabnam Gul called for a more aggressive global media strategy, urging, “It is crucial that we expose Indian propaganda and amplify the voices of the oppressed Kashmiris on international platforms.”
The seminar was further enriched by patriotic performances by UAJK students, showing solidarity through music. The event also featured the screening of the powerful documentary Aatish-e-Chinar, highlighting the struggles of Kashmiris and their relentless fight for freedom.
Additional Registrar Sardar Zafar Iqbal skillfully moderated the seminar, ensuring an engaging and thought-provoking discussion. UAJK continues to strengthen its commitment to the Kashmir cause, reaffirming that the struggle for Kashmir’s freedom is not just a political issue, but a humanitarian crisis that demands immediate global attention.
