The Department of Botany at AJKU offers a full spectrum of degree programs designed to cultivate deep scientific understanding of plant biology, ecosystems, and biotechnological applications.
Undergraduate Program
  • BS Botany – A comprehensive undergraduate program covering fundamental plant sciences, including taxonomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, and environmental botany, with practical lab and field training.
Eligibility
The criterion for admission in B.S. Botany is HSSC or equivalent with at least Second division (45% marks).
Postgraduate Programs
  • M.Phil. Botany – A research-oriented degree with coursework in advanced topics like molecular biology, biotechnology, and GIS applications. Students undertake a thesis, preparing them for scientific careers or doctoral study.
  • Ph.D. Botany – A rigorous doctoral program focused on original research and specialization in areas such as biodiversity, plant systematics, climate change, and ecological modeling. Designed for future academics, scientists, and policy experts.
Eligibility
M.Phil: The criteria for admission in M.Phil. Botany is at least Second division in M.Sc. Botany and UGAT of this University with a minimum 50% score required at the time of admission.
Ph.D: For admission into Ph.D., the minimum CGPA should be 3.00 or 1st division in MS/M.Phil. In addition, the candidate must pass GRE (International) Subject Test with a minimum percentile score of 60% before submission of the Ph.D. Dissertation.
Each program blends fieldwork, lab analysis, and critical research—preparing graduates for careers in environmental agencies, research institutions, academia, agriculture, and biotechnology sectors.
