Orientation and Welcome Ceremony of the Department of International Relations
On 7th November 2024, the Department of International Relations at the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir proudly welcomed its newest cohort, Batch 6 (2024-28), at the City Campus, C Block Auditorium. The orientation and welcome ceremony, organized by senior students, marked the beginning of an exciting academic journey for the freshers.
The ceremony opened with a soulful recitation from the Holy Quran, followed by a Naat-e-Rasool and Hamd-e-Bari Ta’ala, setting a respectful and spiritual tone for the event. Senior students then led a warm and engaging welcome for the new students, including heartfelt speeches, inspiring messages, and a warm exchange of gifts and chocolates, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and support. Entertaining performances, interactive games, and lively activities fostered a joyful interaction between juniors, seniors, faculty, and staff, helping freshers feel comfortable and welcomed into their new academic family.
Faculty members took the stage to outline the department’s values, academic standards, and rules, emphasizing the department’s commitment to fostering integrity, curiosity, and critical thinking. Seniors shared invaluable insights and personal experiences, offering guidance to help newcomers navigate both academic and campus life. The freshers expressed their sincere gratitude to the seniors and faculty for a memorable and meaningful event.
The Head of the Department, Dr. Mehmood Hussain, closed the ceremony with an inspiring address that underscored his vision for advancing academic excellence and community involvement within the department. The highlight of Dr. Hussain’s speech was his announcement of several major initiatives:
