Central Library


The Central Library is well stocked with books, journals and related materials and more than 31,000 online research journals. Under the National Digital Library Programme, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) provides access to scientific and scholarly literature through international Network for Scientific Publisher (INASP). The University has been linked to this facility from April 2004, providing access to over 11,600 peer-reviewed full text online International academic journals and more than 20,000 abstracts from some of the world’s top publishing houses including Blackwell Synergy, CABI, EBSCO, Oxford University Press, Mary Ann Leibert, Springer link,
Science Direct and JSTOR. Equipped with bibliographic and other databases, the programme aims to support capacity building in the research sector by strengthening the production, access and dissemination of information and knowledge.

The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir has dual system of library services apart from the Central Library. Each and every
department has its own departmental library. The Central Library includes the following units.

CIRCULATION SECTION

It is responsible to provide reading materials to the borrowers / members of the Library on periodical basis to meet their academic requirements at home.

REFERENCE SECTION

It accepts the responsibility of providing reference services to the research scholars, conducting research activities at University level by developing a network within the library as well as by maintaining a liaison with collaborating Universities of the Country.

ACQUISITION SECTION

It holds the office with the responsibility of procuring the reading material in all its fashions/ styles/ formats by utilizing the annually allocated funds for the said purpose by scrutinizing / selecting the relevant materials.

Technical Section
The Library collection is processed technically by this section care of classification and cataloging. It also includes the Library automation and indexing of current date base accessible by exploiting the avai8lable resources of the Library.

Archival Section
For the survival of our cultural heritage an Archive Section has recently been established after receipt of the valuable documents donated by the philanthropists from different walks of life which has devolved the worth of Library collection wonderfully. Necessary concerted efforts are required to be made further to develop the same in future.

The Pakistan Scientific & Technological Information Centre (PASTIC) has started its services through its sub-center established in the Central library and is providing research / reference services to faculty/ students through its rich databases.

The Centre of Excellence in Technological Entrepreneurship Development (CETED) has also been established by Pakistan Science Foundation.

Digital Library

Central/Departmental Library Management System
Library Management System has been launched in the Central Library which connects all the departmental libraries with the Central Library. More than 15000 Books, Journal, Magazine, Thesis, Script, Audio/Video entered relevant to Post, Field.

E-library
Near about sixty thousand e-books are available in E-library, inaugurated on 08-10-2015.

Book Bank
Book Bank scheme have been introduced and inaugurated on 08-10-2015. This scheme is used for providing facility to the students of BS program to purchase text books in Low price edition.
