His doctoral research, “Non-equilibrium Plasmas and Their Applications to Biomaterials and Nanofabrication”, explored plasma-assisted synthesis and surface engineering using magnetron glow discharge and atmospheric pressure plasmas. Employing diagnostic tools such as Optical Emission Spectroscopy, he investigated plasma–material interactions to develop biocompatible coatings and nanostructures with tailored properties for biomedical and electronic applications.
Dr. Majeed’s current research focuses on the design, synthesis, and property tuning of functional materials, including copper oxide (CuO), copper nitride (Cu₃N), titanium dioxide (TiO₂), and titanium nitride (TiN). Using plasma-based (magnetron glow discharge, plasma nitriding) and solution-based (sol–gel) techniques, he develops materials with optimized structural, optical, and electrical properties for applications in electronics, photovoltaics, gas sensing, protective coatings, and optoelectronics.
He has published extensively in high-impact journals such as Plasma Processes and Polymers, Nanoscale Research Letters, and Materials Chemistry and Physics. Alongside research, he teaches graduate and postgraduate physics courses, supervises research scholars in low-temperature plasma physics, thin-film technologies, and nanomaterials, and organizes academic workshops. His interdisciplinary collaborations continue to advance plasma-assisted material technologies across both fundamental and applied domains.
