Personal Details
I am Dr. Muhammad Jamil, currently serving as Professor of Economics at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Memorial Chair (State Bank of Pakistan), Kashmir Institute of Economics, The University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Muzaffarabad. With a specialization in Finance, I took my PhD from University of Vienna, Austria. My academic career includes previous roles as Assistant and Associate Professor at the Quaid-i-Azam University, Staff Economist at PIDE, and Lecturer at Bahauddin Zakariya University. I taught courses such as Econometric Methods, Financial Econometrics, Advanced Microeconomics, and Public Sector Economics. I also conducted workshops in applied economics and trained students and professionals in tools like EViews, Stata, SPSS, QGIS, and LaTeX, contributing to capacity building in empirical research.

My research has focused on applying econometric techniques to real-world policy issues, including financial inclusion and branchless banking. I have actively participated in academic seminars and workshops across Pakistan and have supervised 8 PhD dissertations, 56 MPhil theses, and numerous undergraduate projects. These experiences have not only enhanced my own understanding but have also allowed me to mentor emerging scholars in economics. My goal has consistently been to strengthen research and promote the use of empirical evidence in economic policy. I remain committed to contributing to academic excellence, improving teaching and research standards, and supporting data-driven decision-making in Pakistan’s development context.
