Fahad Hameed is a lecturer at the Institute of Geology, University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Pakistan, where he has been since September 2010. Previously, he worked as a Field Geologist in different organisations for the Geotechnical investigation of various hydropower projects in Pakistan. He received his B.Sc, M.Sc, and M.Phil in Applied Geology from the Institute of Geology, University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Pakistan and currently, he is pursuing his Ph.D in Geology. He teaches various courses related to Geophysics, Tectonics and GIS and Remote Sensing at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Fahad’s research is focused on applications of geophysical methods in mineral exploration, groundwater exploration, geotechnical investigation, and crustal and regional tectonic studies. He is also interested in various applications of Geographic Information System (GIS) and Remote Sensing (RS) in Geology.

1. Worked as Co-PI in the project entitled “Microgravity Survey to delineate cavities, weak zones beneath concrete mass upstream and downstream of Chianwali Spillway area, Chianwali Hydropower Project, Gujarnwala, Pakistan funded by Geo-Research Lahore in 2021, Cost: 0.88 million PKR.
2. Worked as Co-PI in the project entitled “Exploration of Molybdenum at Chipurson, Gojal Valley” funded by Degan Exploration Works (MEDO), FWO in 2019, Cost: 1.25 million PKR.
3. Worked as Co-PI in the project entitled “Investigation of water seepage problem at the Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Project Dam Site using Electrical Resistivity Tomography and Microgravity Survey” funded by Neelum Jhelum Hydropower Company (Pvt) Ltd in 2018, Cost: 1.95 million PKR.
4. Worked as Co-PI in the project entitled “Tectonic and Mineral study of Hazara and its adjoining areas of Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Northern Pakistan based on Gravity and Magnetic data” funded by Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan in 2015 (HEC, No. 4373), Cost: 2.77 million PKR.
5. Worked as Co-PI in the project entitled “Microgravity Survey of Sulemanki Barrage, Punjab Province Pakistan” funded by Geo-Research Lahore (2016), Cost: 1.3 million PKR.
6. Participated as a member in a scientific project “Seismic safety evaluation of engineering sites for three new reservoir dams at the Azad Pattan, Mahl, and Kohala along the Jhelum River” with the Institute of Geology, China Earthquake Administration.
7. Participated as member in a scientific project “K2 Sixty Years Later” for the first measurements of Mount K2 with high precision GPS receivers. The project was organized by the Government of Gilgit Baltistan with the support of the EV-K2-CNR Association, on the 60th anniversary of the first ascent of K2 by an Italian expedition on July 31, 1954.
8. Participated as a member in a scientific project “Realisation of a Geomatics Laboratory at University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Muzaffarabad” financed by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Italy.
9. Participated in the installation of Permanent GNNS stations at University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muzaffarabad and at Skardu, Northern Pakistan.
