Dr. Maqsood Jafri Enlightens UAJK on Literary Resistance
The Department of Urdu at UAJK proudly organized an enriching seminar on “Tehreek-e-Azadi Kashmir Mein Adab ka Kirdar” (The Role of Literature in the Kashmir Freedom Movement), in honor of the distinguished scholar and poet Prof. Dr. Maqsood Jafri. Known as “Shair-e-Haft Zaban” for his mastery over multiple languages, Dr. Jafri captivated the audience with his philosophical insights and literary contributions to the Kashmir cause.
The event was chaired by Dr. Mir Yousuf Mir and notable speakers included Barrister Afzal, who highlighted his father’s legacy in literature. Famous Poet Hurr Kashmiri, and Dr. Amina Bahar, all of whom shared profound reflections on the role of Urdu literature in resistance movements and Kashmir’s struggle for freedom. The renowned poet Naz Muzaffarabadi also left the audience spellbound with his heart-touching poetry.
Dr. Maqsood Jafri’s address emphasized the importance of literature in inspiring freedom movements and urged students to make reading a daily practice to remain connected with their history and culture. The seminar concluded with heartfelt presidential remarks by Dr. Mir Yousuf Mir, followed by a standing ovation for Dr. Jafri’s contributions to literature and academia.
