The Directorate of Advanced Studies and Research has been established to streamline the functioning of different M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree programs. Under the dynamic leadership of the Director, the Directorate facilitates postgraduate students for admission, enrollment, approval of supervisory committees, approval of synopses, and organization of synopsis and thesis defenses.

It is also tasked with formulating and recommending new policies to strengthen academic disciplines, in alignment with the directives and models of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) of Pakistan. The Directorate strives for academic excellence, transparency, and the timely completion of all research programs. It also assists departments in organizing conferences, workshops, seminars, and symposia, and supports faculty and staff development through training programs.

The Directorate administers awards such as the Best Teacher Award, Best Student Award, and Best Player Award. In fiscal year 2016, an amount of Rs. 6,088,750 was approved for faculty/officer research incentives. Additionally, Rs. 654,500 was released as second installments for research projects, and Rs. 3,200,000 was granted to departments for research support. Monthly meetings of the Board of Advanced Studies and Research are held with the following core responsibilities:

• Advising authorities on matters of advanced studies and research
• Recommending the institution of research degrees
• Proposing regulations for awarding research degrees
• Appointing supervisors and approving synopses
• Recommending panels of examiners for theses
• Performing other prescribed academic duties
