54th Syndicate meeting of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir

The 54th Syndicate meeting of the University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (UAJK) was held under the chairmanship of Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry, President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Chancellor of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Universities, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, Kashmir House, Islamabad.

Prominent attendees included Vice-Chancellor UAJK Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi, Secretary to the President Dr. Muhammad Idrees Abbasi, HEC Representative Prof. Dr. Mehmood-ul-Hasan Butt, former Secretary to the Government Sardar Muhammad Nawaz Khan, former Secretary to the Government Chaudhry Muhammad Munir, Dean Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Nadeem Haider Bukhari, Dean Faculty of Sciences Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafiq, Dean Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Saadat Hanif Dar, and UAJK Registrar Dr. Ghulam Murtaza, along with other syndicate members.

During the session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi briefed the President and Syndicate members on the university’s ongoing projects and challenges. He highlighted the significant improvements in UAJK’s global ranking and emphasized the university’s commitment to further enhancing educational standards. “Our goal is to elevate UAJK to international standards, enabling our graduates to shine on both national and global platforms,” said Prof. Dr. Abbasi.

The Syndicate also approved UAJK’s annual budget of 2.42 billion PKR for 2024-25, with an additional grant of 201 million PKR provided by the Government of Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Prof. Dr. Abbasi expressed his gratitude to President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry for his efforts in securing this financial support, which will further the university’s mission of academic excellence.

Addressing the Syndicate, Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry urged the university administration to make every effort to improve academic quality and align UAJK with contemporary educational standards. He emphasized the importance of adapting teaching methodologies to meet international benchmarks, underscoring his vision for a progressive and globally competitive institution.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Kaleem Abbasi reaffirmed his commitment to realizing the President’s vision, pledging to utilize all resources to ensure that UAJK meets global standards in education and research.
