  • Organized and conducted a meeting of with HoDs and Faculty members regarding preparation of M.Phil. Review Data by HEC On 05,2017. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafique, briefed the importance of review of MS/M.Phil. Program by HEC and Dr. Lal Hussain, briefed the relevant forms and documents with the HoDs and faculty members to be fully prepared before visit of HEC team.

  • Conducted One Day training for Focal persons of BS, Masters, M.Phil. and PhD. Programs regarding the ERP systems on How to conduct the Online Course evaluation, teachers evaluation, Alumni, Employer, graduating and research students surveys.
  • Particpated Three Day Workshop on Applications of MS Project Management Organized by Pakistan Manpower Institute, Islamabad on March 27-29,2017. Regarding how to use MS Project Management organized by Pakistan Manpower Institute, Islamabad.
  • Participated in HEC Turnitin Hands on Training at HEC Islamabad. Regarding how to use Turnit Software and its Implementation at University.
  • Participated in Three Day Workshops on Assertiveness Skills on March 13-15, 2017. Regarding how to Use Assertiveness Skills organized by Pakistan Manpower Institute, Islamabad.
  • Participated in 3 Day workshop on Quality Assurance and Governance organized by HEC under TESP Islamabad in March 07-09, 2017. Regarding how to use and implement Quality Assurance & Governance under HEC Tertiary Education Support Program (TESP).
  • Visited the Affiliated Colleges with the University of AJ&K at Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur on 02-March 05, 2017. To implement the QA standards and criteria in Affiliated Colleges and to examine the newly started classes in affiliated colleges.

July to December 2016

  • QEC Organized one-day workshop on Self-Assessment Report writing methods on November 24, 2016 at Women University Bagh. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafque, Director QEC and Dr. Lal Hussain, Assistant Director QEC Acted as resource persons in the said workshop. The Agenda of the workshop is to disseminate the concept of QA, Self-Assessment Procedure, Functions of QEC, Curriculum Development and Organization and other set assigned criterion laid down by HEC.
  • QEC organized Assessment Meeting to evaluate the SAR Ph.D. Program, Department of Chemistry. The Assessment Team Expert, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Aziz Choudhary, Professor Department of Chemistry Mirpur University of Science and Technology was invited to evaluate the Self-Assessment Report (SAR), Department of Chemistry Ph.D. Program. The meeting was arranged on November 28, 2016 at Department of Chemistry, University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Chellah Campus Muzaffarabad.
  • Dr. Lal Hussain Attended HEC annual Progress Review meeting from December 01-02, 2016 at Grand Regency Hotel, Islamabad.
  • QEC organized and conducted a meeting of Focal person of MS/M.Phil. and PhD Programs on December 19, 2016. Dr. Lal Hussain, Assistant Director QEC briefed the focal persons on ERP surveys and ensure the focal persons to timely evaluate the surveys after completing the semester.
  • QEC Organized and conducted two-day workshop on “Finance & Audit, Institutional Performance, Communication Skills and IT tools for non-teaching employees of the University from Dec. 29-30, 2016 at City Campus, Muzaffarabad. Prof. Dr. Nisar Hussain Hamdani Director KIE, Muhammad Idrees Khan, Director IT finance AJK, Govt., Dr. Batool Atta Chairperson institute of education, Dr. Lal Hussain, Assistant Director QEC and Mr. Imran Shamoon acted as resource persons in various modules such as ethics, institutional performance, finance and Audit, Communication Skills and IT Tools.

  2. Conducted Assessment Team meeting of Computer Sciences and Information Technology, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering on June 03, 2016 at City Campus, Muzaffarabad. Dr. Wasi Haider Butt Associate Professor Department of CS, NUST (Expert) to evaluate SAR, Ph.D. CS&IT program.
  3. Conducted Assessment Team meeting of Mathematics, Faculty of Sciences and Engineering on June 01, 2016 at City Campus, Muzaffarabad. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sajid, Department of Mathematics/Statistic, International Islamic University Islamabad (Expert) to evaluate SAR, M.Phil. Mathematics program.
  4. QEC in collaboration with the Department of Education organized 5 days an orientation Training from 30 May 2016 to 03 June 2016 of the newly appointed Teachers of The University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
  5. Conducted one Day Workshop on Promulgation of QEC Concept in affiliated Postgraduate Colleges (Male), Muzaffarabad on May 31, 2016. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Rafique, Director QEC introduces the QEC, its functionality, objectives and need in current era. Mr. Naveed Sarwar, Deputy Director QEC conducted all technical sessions on Self-Assessment procedure, Self-Assessment Report writing methods, purpose of course and teacher evaluation surveys, Minimum Criteria for Affiliated Colleges and Semester Rules.

July – December 2015

  1. QEC organized one day workshop on Implementation of Quality Assurance Standards according to HEC Quality Assurance policy Guidelines in Sub-Campuses at Neelum Campus for Faculty and staff on December 29,2015. QEC organized and assisted in Three Day Workshop on Good Governance of Non-Teaching Employees of Teaching Departments in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Indigenous On Campus Training (IoT) Program under Modern University Governance Program in various Modules such as Leadership Styles, Management Approaches, effective recruitment selection tools, Strategic Planning and Evaluation, Developing Strategic Planning and Thinking, Good Governance Techniques and Its effective implementation, Knowledge Management in Public Sector Organizations from Dec. 16-18, 2015 at Committee Room, City Campus, Muzaffarabad.
  4. QEC organized a training / briefing of focal person for Online Surveys for BS Masters, MS, M.Phil. and Ph.D. Program on December 10, 2015. Mr. Engr. Fakhar Zaman presented the ERP system demo, its usefulness for both student and teacher to conduct online surveys using this software. Mr. Lal Hussain Assistant Director QEC briefed the concept of Online Surveys for said program and trained the focal person for this purpose.
  5. QEC organized and assisted in Three Day Workshop on Good Governance of Non-Teaching Employees of Teaching Departments in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Indigenous On Campus Training (IoT) Program under Modern University Governance Program in various Modules such as Product Development and Marketing, Human Resource Management and Management Skills from Dec. 02-04, 2015 at Committee Room, City Campus, Muzaffarabad.

QEC organized and assisted in Three Day Workshop on Finance and Audit of Non-Teaching Employees of Teaching Departments in collaboration with Higher Education Commission Indigenous On Campus Training (IoT) Program under Modern University Governance Program in various Modules such as New Accounting Modules and Accounting Policies, Budgeting in Public Sector Universities and preparation of Cash Flow Statement from Nov. 18-20, 2015 at Committee Room, City Campus, Muzaffarabad.

  8. QEC organized one day training on How to Use Turnitin Software Hands on Exercise for M.Phil. and Ph.D. Supervisors at University Vide Conference Room, City Campus, Muzaffarabad on October 07, 2015. Mr. Lal Hussain acted as a resource person.

January – June 2015

  1. Lal Hussain, Assistant Director QEC made a seminar presentation entitled “Spatial Coherence and Coupling connectivity between Phase of Brain Waves: Differences in Resting States with Eye Open and Closed” at Nonlinear and Biomedical Physics Research Group (N&BMPR group), Physics Building, Lancaster University, UK on June 12, 2015.
  2. QEC in collaboration with the Department of Software Engineering & IT section organized an orientation seminar of the newly developed software for conducting HEC online Surveys at the Digital Video Conferencing (DVC) room On June 10, 2015. Engr. Muhammad Zaman Fakhar, Lecturer, Dept. of Software Engineering was the Resource person.
  • QEC Organized a meeting in collaboration with Tertiary Education Support Program (TESP) project of HEC, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Shams-ud-Din Qureshi, former of Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) Sindh, and ex-federal secretary for Science & Technology visited the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Muzaffarabad on March 09, 2015. He acted as an independent consultant to review the IPE (Institutional Performance Evaluation) of the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Muzaffarabad under Third Party Validation (TPV) of Tertiary Education Support Program (TESP) of the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Government of Pakistan, Islamabad; being partially supported by the World Bank. During the visit, Dr. Qureshi held detailed interactive sessions of deliberations with the staff members of the Directorate of Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), the senior and junior faculty including the Deans, the Heads of Academic Departments; and the Principal Officers comprising the Registrar, the Controller of Examinations, the Director Finance, the Director Planning and the Director Works. Overall, the efforts being made by the faculty and management of the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir were appreciated in view of the challenges being faced, such as the limited infrastructure and financial constraints.
  1. Organized a meeting of Institutional Performance (IPE) report for University Principal Officers, HoDs and faculty members on March 04, 2015. The purpose of this meeting was to share with the officials the contents of IPE report as conducted by the HEC and the upcoming TPV visit and Evaluation criterion such as Program Mission, Objectives and Outcomes, Planning and Evaluation, Organization and Governance, Faculty, Students, Institutional Resources, Academic Programs & Curricula and Assessment & Quality.

Naveed Sarwar, Deputy Director QEC participated in a three-day workshop on Quality Assurance organized by the Higher Education Commission and IMSciences, Peshawar from April 27-29, 2015 at Islamabad. The workshop comprised different sessions on aspects of quality assurance at the Higher Education Institutions (HEI’s) of Pakistan and under international settings as well.
  4. Dr. Muhammad Qayyum Khan (Director QEC) participated in workshop on Financial Management from April 06 to April 10, 2015 at Margala Hotel, Islamabad.
  • Lal Hussain, Assistant Director QEC participated in two days seminar/workshop on Outcome Prediction in Attention, Learning and Cognitive Control on March 19-20, 2015 organized by the Department of Experimental Psychology, University of Oxford, UK.

July – December 2014

  1. QEC organized a Five Day on-campus   workshop on Managerial Skills (Planning & Development, Monitoring & Evaluation, Noting and Drafting) from December 20-24, 2014 for administrative clerical staff, and teaching/ academic departments’ clerical staff of UAJK under HEC On- Campus Training Program as a part of Modern University Governance Program.
  2. The resource persons included; Prof. Ikram Ur Rashid, Dr. Abdul Majid, Mr. Muhammad Shamoon Hashmi, Prof. Dr. Raja Nasim Akhtar, Mr. Abdul Ghafoor and Dr. Ali Abbas.

They conducted sessions on Ethics and Code of Conduct, MS Word, Planning & Development, Noting and Drafting, Monitoring and Evaluation and MS Excel.

 

  • QEC organized a Five Day on-campus   workshop on ICT Training for Clerical Staff of Administrative Departments from December 05-09, 2014 under HEC on- Campus Training Program as a part of Modern University Governance Program.

The resource persons included; Prof. Ikram Ur Rashid, Mr. Raja Sharjeel Saeed, Mr. Imtiaz Ahmed Awan, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Nadeem, Dr. Ali Abbas and Dr. Saeed Arif Shah.

The participants were trained with sessions on Ethics and Code of Conduct, Internet Basics and Email, Microsoft Word, Urdu Inpage, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Excel.

  QEC organized a Five Day on-campus   workshop on ICT Training for Clerical Staff of Teaching Departments from November 21st -25th, 2014 under HEC On- Campus Training Program as a part of Modern University Governance Program.

The resource persons for the training included; Prof. Ikram Ur Rashid, Dr. Abdul Majid, Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Nadeem, Dr. Rabia Riaz and Prof. Dr. Wajid Aziz Loun. They conducted sessions on Ethics and code of conduct, Internet Basics and Email, Microsoft Word, Urdu Inpage, Microsoft Power Point and Microsoft Excel.

  1. QEC Organized Five Day workshop on UMIS Tools under HEC on Campus Training Program- Modern University Governance Program from August 29th-September 2nd, 2014 at Chehla Campus for the Clerical Office Staff of the Examinations Department, the Registrar Office, Accounts and other departments.

The resource persons included; Mr. Imran Abbasi, Kh. Muhammad Arif, Mr. Imran Shamoon, Mr. Mubashar Ahmed Lone and Mr. Wajid Arshad Abbasi. Training sessions were offered on Administrator/security Management System, HR Meeting Management System, Academic and Administration Management System, Registration Admin and Institute Affiliation, Student Registration, Accounts Management System, Fixed Assets Management System and Transport Management System.

  1. QEC organized a Five Day on-campus workshop on Financial Management and Audit Skills from August 08-12, 2014 for Administrative Staff, particularly the ones from the Audit and Accounts Section of UAJK under HEC On- Campus Training Program as a part of Modern University Governance Program.

The resource persons included; Mr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, Dr. Wajid Aziz Loun, Mr. Tahir Iqbal, Mr. Shamoon Hashmi. Training sessions were conducted on Financial Management, Basic Computing Skills, Taxation and Audit, Office Automation, Accounts and Budgeting, Planning and Development, Procurement and Exploring Information on the Web.

In the Concluding Ceremony of the workshop, the participants were awarded with   Certificates of Participation by the Vice Chancellor UAJK, Prof. Dr. Syed Dilnawaz Ahmed Gardezi. Among others, the ceremony was also attended by the Director QEC, the Deans   and the Registrar UAJK.

  2. Dr. Muhammad Qayyum Khan, Director, Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) participated in the Seventh Meeting of Phase-IV QECs at the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad on Dec 30-31, 2014. He represented the UAJK Muzaffarabad at the national forum of HEI’s and shared the progress of UAJK with the officials of the Quality Assurance Agency and QECs representatives from other national institutions of higher education from the public and private sector. The participants of the meeting were apprised with the measures being taken by the University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Muzaffarabad aimed at enhancing the academic and administrative governance of the university by implementing and assuring adherence to the guidelines and directives issued by the HEC. It is hoped that with the new insights into Quality Assurance, the UAJK will gain significant growth in the near future.
  3. Naveed Sarwar, Deputy Director, QEC UAJK participated in an International Resource Person (IRP) training workshop on TEFL (Teaching of English as a Foreign Language) held at the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Regional Centre Lahore from Dec 15-19,2014. The said training was offered by the HEC to English Language Teachers (ELT) of HEI’s participating from different parts of the country. It offered them to learn effective modern techniques and activities aimed at improving the language skills of learners at different levels in terms of listening, speaking, reading and writing. On successful completion of the workshop, the participants were awarded with certificates by the HEC.
  • Naveed Sarwar, Deputy Director, QEC UAJK participated in the International Symposium on Linguistics & TESOL held at the SAN JOSE STATE UNIVERSITY(SJSU), California, USA on Sep 26, 2014. The symposium was arranged by the Department of Linguistics & Language Development (LLD) to share research studies conducted in the field of Linguistics and TESOL. Mr. Naveed made a presentation entitled, “Pahari Language Exhibiting Patterns of Language Shift” and discussed social patterns exhibited by Pahari, an indigenous major language of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. The insightful study dealing with a major language of AJK was greatly appreciated by other researchers, faculty, students and staff participating in the symposium at SJS
