Dr. Muhammad Basharat Institute of Geology, UAJK wins HEC University Best Teacher Award for 2016

Dr. Muhammad Basharat, Associate Professor, Institute of Geology, UAJK has received the University Best Teacher Award for the year 2016 from the Higher Education Commission (HEC) during the ceremony held in Islamabad. The award comprises a certificate and a cash prize worth Rs. 100,000. This is the highest national university teaching award given to only one faculty member per each degree awarding institution in Pakistan.

The University Best Teacher awardees are selected by the HEC from universities and degree awarding institutions across the country based on their performance and after fulfilling a merit-based evaluation and nomination criteria. All the nominations are scrutinised and evaluated on the basis of the HEC approved criteria by an expert committee.

Dr. Basharat earned his Ph.D degree in Engineering Geology with a specific focus on Landslide Hazards and Risk Assessment from FAU, Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. His main research interest includes earthquake induced landslide and slope stability analysis. So for he has published more than 20 peer reviewed ISI papers in the national and international repute journals and presented his research work in various national and international conferences.

Dr. Basharat has graduated from the Quaid-i-Azam University Islamabad. He started his academic career as a Lecturer Geology, UAJK. Later he has been awarded HEC scholarship under Faculty Development Programme for his PhD studies from Germany. He also wins many travel grants from national and international organizations to present his research work on different scientific forums. Currently, he has been elected as a member Syndicate UAJK.
