I am a vegetation ecologist hailing from Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Pakistan, currently designated as a Tenured Professor of Botany at the Department of Botany, University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Muzaffarabad. I have earned a Ph.D. in Plant Sciences (2011) from Quaid-I-Azam University, Islamabad, Pakistan. I have also completed 1 year Post Graduate Diploma in GIS & Remote Sensing (2022), from Institute of Geology University of Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
My research group is mainly focused on Population dynamics and Habitat assessment of threatened species and vegetation communities in the Himalayan Alpine and temperate mountain regions of Pakistan. We are also carrying out GIS-based Predictive modeling of species refugia as well as carbon dynamics, along with analyzing soil carbon dynamics and anthropogenic impacts on Himalayan forest and alpine ecosystems.
I have tried to bridge traditional botany with cutting-edge geospatial technologies, with a commitment to addressing global challenges such as climate change and biodiversity loss. With an interdisciplinary, we are trying our best to ensure that our work may not only advance academic knowledge but also inform policy and community-based conservation, ensuring the preservation of fragile Himalayan ecosystems for future generations.
I have published more than 75 articles in reputed journals along with 5 chapters in peer reviewed books. As Principal Investigator, I have secured significant grants at National level and completed 4 different research. I have Supervised 04 completed PhDs with 05 ongoing, alongside 31 MPhil graduates and 6 current candidates. A total of 17 BS/MSc students have carried out their research projects under my supervision.
